We are excited to announce that we now stock Earthquaker Devices! These pedals are absolutely amazing and add a unique quality to any guitarists sound. We also carry TC Electronics pedals as well. Stop in any time to try out these fantastic pedals!
We announced online a few weeks ago that Brothers Music will carry Fulltone Pedals shortly. Well, the time has come and our Fulltone delivery will be here on Wednesday April 12. We will carry the full standard line of Fulltone pedals! We are extremely grateful to Fulltone for taking us on. Check out their website for their list of pedals and make sure to stop in next week.
Brothers Music will once again hold a Thanksgiving Food Drive for a local Baltimore food bank. In exchange for two food donations from the items below, D’Addario has given us free NYXL electric or Nickel Bronze acoustic strings! The event will take place from 12pm- 8pm on Saturday, November 19. See you there!
This week, Brothers Music was named Best Music Store by Baltimore City Paper. Brothers Music would like to thank City Paper for recognizing us and our commitment to being Baltimore’s best and only spot to find new and used guitars, amps, synths, and more. We hope to be in the Old Goucher neighborhood for years to come, but that comes with a caveat. We aren’t pulling in the amount of customers we had hoped and are faced with difficult decisions.
We need people to shop local. The Baltimore economy is not equal. It is no secret certain areas of this city are valued over others. There are 650,000 residents in Baltimore, and some days we do less than $10. There is no way a city this large does not have a single resident that needs guitar strings or sticks on any given day. People will buy their supplies online because it’s cheaper and it’s easier. That is the sad truth we face as a brick and mortar store. I want each person who reads this to understand that Brothers Music is part of the Baltimore economy, and part of a community. When people shop here that money goes back into this store and in the hands of our employees and then back out into the Baltimore economy. Your dollars matter here. They do not matter to Amazon, or Musicians Friend, or Guitar Center (who owns Musicians Friend). If this does not change, there will be fewer and fewer independent retailers not only in Baltimore, but nationwide.
Baltimore musicians, we are here for you. But in return, you have to be there for us. Shop local.
Brothers Music is excited to announce that we will exclusively carry the Jenn Wasner signature guitar JW-1 from Reverend Guitars in Mid-August. Reverend Guitars worked with Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes, Dungeonesse) “to create this custom guitar that combines the dynamic power of the Charger HB with the visual aesthetic of Jenn’s projects. Reverend partnered with the Baltimore textile artist who created Jenn’s stage wear, April Camlin, to create the graphic, called ‘Optic Interruption.'” We are super stoked to be the exclusive dealer in Baltimore City for Reverend Guitars and the JW-1. We will also carry other Reverend Guitars such as the Charger, Buckshot, and Jetstream. The JW-1 is $999.99, while other standard Reverend Guitars are $799.99.

Hey there fellow Brothers Music shoppers. We’ve got a few announcements to make. First, Brothers Music will be open 7 DAYS A WEEK starting June 6. We will be open on Mondays from 12-7. Second, $5 group guitar lessons will start on Saturday June 4 from 11:30am-12:00pm. We also have a bunch of brand new guitars in stock from Hagstrom and Oscar Schmidt. Finally, we should be getting a new shipment of KORG gear next week. Be sure to stop in and try out the Volcas and Minilogue.
It’s been a while since Baltimore City’s favorite new and used guitar store had a post, but we have some exciting news! We just got an order of new Volcas in stock but next week we will have the long awaited Korg FM Volca! From the Korg website, “The volca fm is a three-voice digital FM synthesizer that completely reproduces the sound engine of a classic FM synthesizer, and provides compatibility with it as well. The unique volca interface makes it easy to manipulate distinctive FM sounds even if you’re not familiar with the complexities of FM synthesis. The 16-step sequencer that’s one of volca’s features provides new functions such as WARP ACTIVE STEP and PATTERN CHAIN that let you make even more powerful rhythm patterns.” Here is a link to a helpful review on the Korg FM Volca.
Finally, in April we should be receiving what Korg is calling their greatest product to date, the Korg Minilogue. Brothers Music has order SIX Minilogues. You cannot get these at Guitar Center, or anywhere for that matter. If you would like to reserve a Korg Minilogue we are taking names for a waiting list. Email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve one today. The Korg Minilogue is a 37-key 4-voice polyphonic analogue synthesizer. This thing blew everyone away at the NAMM show and quickly sold out.
I realize synths are kind of a niche thing, but I’ve actually been surprised that none of our Korg items have sold! We have the microKorg, Taktile, Volca Beats, Bass, Keys, Sampler, Electribe2; what more do you people want? These instruments are incredible. The microKorg is super versatile and you can really mess with the oscillation, delays, and arpeggiator. You can even hook them all up to work together. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Come try this stuff. It’s cool. We can be a guitar store and synth/keyboard store too right?
Brothers Music will host a meet and greet for Councilman Nick Mosby on Tuesday, March 22 at 5:30PM in an effort to reach out to Old Goucher residents in support of his 2016 mayoral bid. This event is open to the general public but we encourage you to RSVP for the event. This meet and greet is not an endorsement from Brothers Music, but an opportunity for young voters in Baltimore to interact and discuss issues facing their community with a mayoral candidate. We encourage everyone to be a part of the political process. Hope to see you there.
